Teltech Communications Ltd has been in business for over 22 years primarily contracting to Telecom/Chorus through its various service partners. More recently we have become involved with electrical line work for private customers and are looking to extend this capability.

This role is to effectively carry out pole replacement and electrical line maintenance for private customers, to electrical standards. The line mechanic is to ensure health and safety requirements are met at all times, including fellow workers and public.

Primary Duties:
• Pole installation / replacement
• Replacing insulators and spindles, arms on overhead services
• Replacement of conductors, where necessary
• Testing circuits before reconnection
• Liaise with customer
• Liaise with power company control room
• General communications line work during quieter times

Skills and Experience
• EWRB Registration and a current Practicing Licence required
• Maintenance including pole replacement
• Prior experience in a similar role
• Plant operating experience and licences (e.g. cranes)
• Demonstrates electrical industry knowledge
• Can travel and work away
• Full New Zealand drivers’ licence (HT Level 2 preferred)
• Able to keep up with the physical demands of the role

Responsibilities will include:
• Uphold and promote safety
• Environmental and quality controls
• Participate in toolbox meetings,
• Attend training to ensure requirements are met for electrical registration
• Maintain high standard of quality
• Ensure vehicles and equipment’s are well maintained, and in good working order
• Complete daily timesheets, leave forms, vehicle forms
• Open and complete daily job sheets, including hazard identification, risks and information specific to the job
